Nurturers value people and love to be seen as generous and loving. They are amazing at looking after the needs of others, often at the expense of themselves.
Think of the typical “earth mother” archetype – that’s a nurturer type. When they’re operating at their best, they are the most loving, caring, giving people you’ll find.
When they’re not operating at their best, they’re addicted to being needed. If they aren’t needed they feel useless. They are the rescuers of the world but they do that not necessarily to help others but instead in a manipulative way so they can get some sort of recognition, or acceptance. They can often be intrusive in relationships because they need to feel that they are needed.
Nurturers sabotage their intuition by having their intuition radar tuned in to:
- What situation will help me be needed or what will earn me appreciation?
- What helps me avoid rejection?
- What meets the needs of others?
- What helps me identify with others?
- What helps others and at the same time makes look like I’m caring?
